shannon mahoney scholarship Award
Dr. Shannon Mahoney made a lifetime vocation of archaeology and was dedicated to the principles of the profession. From a teen archaeological technician for Caltrans, to a Peace Corps volunteer in Côte d’Ivoire, through undergraduate and graduate schools, and finally as a professional archaeologist, Shannon found alignment in archaeology with her personal values and passions. Throughout her life Shannon was an advocate for equality, human rights, cultural respect, social justice, integrity, and honesty; attributes that she lived for every day. Shannon also always prioritized mentorship; providing leadership, guidance, and encouragement to assist those interested in developing the skills to become professional archaeologists. Colleagues, friends, and family contributed this fund to honor Shannon’s legacy and to inspire and support others to follow in her footsteps.
