Chumash Interpretive Center

Chumash artifacts from various areas of Southern California
Artifacts and narrative pictorials give a wonderfully descriptive view into the material and cultural world of the Chumash people and their way of life
Location: 3290 Lang Ranch Parkway in Thousand Oaks
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. A nature walk to the Chumash Village and a cave containing ancient pictographs is available on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Ojai Valley Historical Society and Museum

Museum features exhibits on Chumash Indian culture and the Spanish colonial period
Chumash Garden is a living botanical garden that explains the use of native plants used by the Chumash for food, medicine, and to make baskets and other craft items.

San Buenaventura Mission

Ninth and last of the California missions founded by Father Serra, in 1782
Location: 211 East Main Street in Ventura
Museum and Mission Gift Shop are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for major holidays
Admission: donation for the Museum and a self-guided tour is $1 for adults and $.50 for children

Stagecoach Inn Museum

The Tri–Village consists of a Chumash ap (tule dwelling), a Spanish/Mexican adobe, and a Pioneer home, representing the three historic eras in the Conejo Valley.
Bedrock mortar, fossil dig, and ceremonial fire ring blessed by the Chumash are near the Chumash ap.
Location: 51 South Ventu Park Road in Newbury Park
Open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for docent-led tours. The entire complex is open Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Special group tours may be arranged by calling the museum. School tours are given Wednesday morning.
