SCA Submission System Instructions

Access the Submission System through your SCA Member’s page . Use the Program Forms link. You must be a member in good standing to submit program information.

Submit an Individual Paper or Poster

To submit a paper or poster use the Individual Presentation Form (link is in the black bar, at the top of the page). All papers and posters will be entered here.

  • Presenter Contact Information
  • Authors: Enter the author(s) add secondary authors, use the blue “add author” function. Please make sure your name(s) appear exactly as you wish them to in the meeting program.
  • Session Information: Select “Yes” or “No” from the drop-down box to indicate whether your personation is a part of an organized symposium. If your presentation is a part of a session, please enter the organizer’s name and session title. Session participants, please help us by getting the official name from your organizer!
  • Presentation Information:
    • Human Remains Disclosure: If your presentation discusses of has images of human remains—no matter origin—please check the box indicating such. This will allow those who are offended or upset by such material to opt out of your presentation.
    • Presentation Type: Select paper or poster from the drop-down.
    • Primary Author Name(s): Enter your name exactly as you wish it to appear in the meeting program.
      • To add an additional author, use the blue “add secondary author link”.
    • Affiliation: Enter your affiliation in full, e.g., University of California, Davis, not UC Davis.
    • Title: The title of your paper
    • Abstract: limited to 200 words. If you cut and paste, please ensure that your entry has not be truncated.
    • Audio/Visual: Indicate your audio visual needs. If you need something not listed in the dropdown, please contact the Program Chair.

Submit an Organized Symposium

The submission of an organized symposium is completed in two parts, for which you will find two forms. From your member’s page, access the submissions system, use the Program Submission Forms link. On this page, you will find the Individual Presentation Form and Organized Symposium Form links.
 
Organized Symposium Form
Enter the symposium title, abstract, and all of the papers’ primary authors for the session (don’t worry about secondary authors or affiliations here; that information will be pulled from the individual papers). Order the papers by using the box provided.
 
Individual Presentation Form
Then have your participants enter their papers from their member’s pages using the Individual Presentation form. Please use full versions of all affiliations, e.g., University of California, San Diego-not UCSD, etc.).

Session Information

  • Organizer Contact Information: This information should autofill from your SCA profile. To add additional organizers, use the blue “add organizer” Please make sure your name(s) appear exactly as you wish them to in the meeting program.
    • Session Title: Title
    • Session Type: Select from the drop-down.
    • Abstract: limited to 200 words. If you cut and paste, please ensure that your entry has not be truncated.
    • Enter the number of participants
    • Participants:
      • Enter only the name of the Primary Author. Secondary authors will be pulled for individual paper submissions for the program.
      • First Name: Enter as: First Name, MI.
      • Last Name: Enter as: Last Name
      • Order: Please enter a number indication
      • Participant Type: Select type of session from the drop-down.
      • Use the blue “add participants” link to add additional primary authors.
      • Notes: Please describe any special needs or arrangements, e.g., invited participant membership waivers. Please also note any discussant’s affiliation.
    • Audio/Visual: Indicate your audio visual needs. If you require audio please add this to the notes field.

NOTE: Organizers of symposia, forums, and workshops must confirm SCA membership of participants as part of the session organizing process or, as necessary, seek exceptions for specific individuals from the SCA board prior to the submission deadline (non-archaeologists with information relevant to the SCA membership may have the membership requirement waived). To seek a waiver of the membership requirement, email the Business Office at office@nullscahome.org. All participants must also register for the meeting when submitting their paper.
