The Senior State Archeologist Assessment is now available!
Are you an archaeologist in California, or want to be? We are searching for passionate individuals that are excited about protecting California’s irreplaceable archaeological sites and collaborating with Tribes on ongoing stewardship and research projects.
Make up to $7,290 – $9,062 per month in this exciting opportunity!
How You’ll Make An Impact
As a Senior Archeologist, you’ll help support 279 spectacular state parks and their historical, maritime, and ancestral sites from sea-level rise and wildfires. You’ll also make an impact through cultural resource planning, managing programs, and making recommendations within our California State parks cultural resource program.
The minimum qualifications for the Senior State Archeologist assessment include two years of experience as an Associate State Archeologist. If you have five years of experience in research, writing, or project supervision in cultural resource management and protection programs, then you’re also eligible to take this assessment!

About the Assessment
Completing this assessment is a requirement to become a California State Parks Senior State Archeologist. The exam is weighted 100% on a training and experience evaluation. Evaluation will be based on your knowledge, skills, and ability, as demonstrated by your education/experience.
