Sacramento & Northern California Area Archaeological Field Technician Positions Available

ASM Affiliates (ASM) has immediate openings for Northern California based archaeological field technicians in the Greater Sacramento County and Northern California Area. ASM is a consulting firm specializing in archaeology, history, architectural history and cultural resource management (CRM) with offices throughout the western U.S. and Hawaii. ASM is always searching for motivated cultural resource professionals to be a part of our team to operate at various levels and capacities.

Projects

The projected workload may consist of archaeological monitoring and/or remote surveys on diverse terrain throughout Northern California. Most of the work will typically include 100+ acre field surveys in remote to semi-remote areas. Hiring will occur on an as-needed basis per individual project until fully staffed.

Qualifications

  1. Required: Technicians shall have completed a field class in archaeology and an archaeological methods class
  2. At least 1+ years of field work experience or equivalent
  3. Be willing to work in and adapt to a variety of environments and challenging field conditions
  4. Excellent writing and communication skills

Preferred:– Bachelor’s degree or higher in Archaeology/Anthropology preferred (or AA degree/certificate with 10+ years’ experience)

Description

This advertisement is for part-time, on-call Field Technicians, preferably currently living in the greater Sacramento and Northern California area. Work duties will be performed outdoors and may occasionally be in remote backcountry environments. Duties may require hiking over long distances, standing for long durations, and the lifting and transport of loads up to 25 lbs. Personal transportation will be required at times.

Pay determined based on qualifications and experience.
