Job Description and Duties

This is a journey-level  position within the Environmental Division in Caltrans District 9. Although the incumbent in this position will work primarily as a Generalist, tasks relating to cultural resource management will also be assigned as needed.  Because of this, applicants should possess qualifications needed to identify and evaluate cultural resources.  Under the general direction of either a Senior Environmental Planner or Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent will perform and review research, data analysis and preparation of environmental reports related to environmental resources under CEQA, NEPA and other state and federal environmental laws and regulations for both transportation and non-transportation projects such as Clean California and the Broadband initiative. The incumbent will also be responsible for cultural resource identification, evaluation and mitigation in order to facilitate the timely delivery of projects. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the management of the cost, scope and schedule of environmental studies to ensure the Division meets its project delivery goals.  The incumbent must stay informed of changes related to state and federal environmental laws and policies.
