FULL OR PART-TIME ARCHAEOLOGIST
We have an immediate opening for a Full or Part Time Archaeologist in our Folsom office with a desire to be part of a
closeknit and energetic multidisciplinary environmental team. This individual will work closely with our two Principal
archaeologists to become an established and integral part of our Cultural Management Team. We are seeking an individual
with a minimum of 5 years’ experience who will be responsible for leading the cultural resource identification and evaluation
efforts associated with projects, including field surveys, archival research, Native American Tribal Government consultation,
and cultural report drafting needed to comply with both the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations.
Dokken has provided environmental and cultural resource services for over 18 years. We deliver innovative environmental and
engineering solutions for local, state, and federally funded public works projects. Our core focus is infrastructure: roadways,
bridges, highways and interchanges, water/irrigation facilities, bicycle and pedestrian paths, dams, and other public facility

Minimum Requirements:
o Must have completed an archaeological field school.
o Must have completed a BA or BS in anthropology, archaeology, history, or cultural resource management. An MA is
preferred.
o Minimum 5 years of experience in cultural resource management/archaeology, preferably in California, including:
o Archaeological Field Survey
o Extended Phase I Presence/Absence Testing
o Report Writing (sole author preferred)
o Native American Consultation
o Historical Groups Consultation
o Archival Research
o GPS/GIS data collection and mapping
o Knowledge of federal and California environmental laws (i.e., Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act,
NEPA, and CEQA).
o Experience with public works projects, transportation projects, and/or the Caltrans Section 106 process, is preferred.
Duties, As Directed:
o Conducting literature research and record searches
o Coordinating Native American consultation
o Leading archaeological field surveys and preparing site documentation
o Conducting archaeological excavation (testing and data recovery)
o Writing cultural reports including, but not limited to, Caltrans-formatted cultural reports
o Working with clients, regulatory authorities, and subconsultants
o Assisting with the development and implementation of mitigation and monitoring reporting programs
Compensation: Competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience and an annual performance-based
bonus.
Location: Folsom HQ office. This position also offers a remote work option. Intermittent travel for field surveys
throughout the State will be required.

This position is open to full or part time candidates. The part-time position has the potential to turn into a full-time
position based on job performance and company needs.
