Now about you…

Tehama, LLC, is actively seeking an As Needed Archaeological Field Director for our office in Sacramento, California. This position will provide technical expertise and support for a variety of clients, agencies, and projects in Western Region of the US.  Primary duties will include conducting field studies, resource impact assessments, recording prehistoric and historic‐era resources, developing site documentation, and drafting project documents.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead project safety, planning, and de‐brief meetings
  • Conduct and direct field surveys, testing, data recovery, and construction monitoring projects
  • Act as Tehama’s representative in coordinating with agency and client personnel
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Native American community
  • Assist in the management of projects, and make NRHP recommendations  Track milestone dates and deadlines for plans and permits
  • Review project documents (work and engineering plans, schedules, technical reports)
  • Recommend changes in standards, administrative procedures, facilities, methods, and practices
  • Comply with all federal and state environmental, and health and safety regulations  Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Type: 1099 Position

Job Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain military installation access from government authorities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A. in archaeology/anthropology
  • Minimum 3‐5 years of experience in directing projects and field crews
  • Working knowledge of GPS/GIS applications and software
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills and ability/desire to conduct archival research and develop technical reports
  • Ability to work long days in challenging conditions (e.g., high heat, inclement weather)
  • Ability to safely navigate rugged terrain
  • Ability to hike long distances with heavy loads
