OHP Now Accepting Nominations for 2021 Governor’s Historic Preservation Awards

The Office of Historic Preservation is now accepting nominations for the 2021 Governor’s Historic Preservation Awards, and would like to invite the SCA community to nominate any projects or individuals whose work exemplifies the best in preserving, protecting, documenting, and educating about California’s archaeological and cultural heritage!

This is California’s only state-sponsored awards program, and provides an opportunity to recognize local, often grassroots efforts to preserve the places, stories, and cultural traditions of our collective California heritage. Archaeology related projects have consistently been among the award recipients in previous years, including most recently in 2019, the Manzanar Community Archeology Program. A list and outline of previous awardees can be viewed on our Past Award Recipients page: https://ohp.parks.ca.gov/pastawards

Individuals, groups, agencies, and projects can be nominated. Nomination forms and instructions are available via our Governor’s Historic Preservation Awards page: https://ohp.parks.ca.gov/governorsawardsDeadline for nominations: May 7, 2021.
