Carpinteria Valley Museum of History
Chumash Painted Cave State Historic Park
- The sandstone cave contains drawings by Chumash Native Americans, as well as likenesses of coastal fishermen that date back to the 1600s
- Location: 3 mi. south of San Marcos Pass. Take Highway 154 out of Santa Barbara and turn right on Painted Caves Road. The cave is located on the left, about 2 mi. up a steep, narrow road. The pullout at the site will only accommodate one or two vehicles.

El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park
- Established in 1782
- Contains restored buildings and exhibits on Spanish Colonial Period history
- Ongoing archaeological research projects
- Location: 123 East Canon Perdido, between Anacapa and Santa Barbara Streets, in downtown Santa Barbara
- Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Guided tours of the site can be arranged by contacting the Trust at (805) 965-0093

- Exhibit of Chumash culture, including a tomol or plank canoe
- Features 11 exhibit halls, focusing on regional natural history, Native Americans, and the Chumash Indians

- Open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Admission: $7 adults, $6 seniors and children (13-17), $4 children under 13; Admission is free on the 3rd Sunday of each month
